Lambasted

Melancholy has taken over me. It has always been residing in me, but it engulfs me at times, so badly that I withdraw myself. But for tonight, a long chat with a certain friend has sparked it off.

Anyway, my friend had sent me an sms earlier to inform me of a flasher in Hougang area after catching it on the news bulletin. That was a very kind gesture, cause that's where I happen to stay. And for the statistics, I've met several bus molesters, and one flasher right under my block who then followed me up in another lift. Two policemen came to take my statement and took me around in their patrol car to locate the flasher, who strike again after I made my report. Did I mention that they are 2 tall, and handsome looking young policemen? My cousin, who stays in the same block as me, (we have 5 units under the same block) was almost raped, yes at the same void deck. And this reported flasher who appeared at block 680, Hougang Ave 8 (just a stone's throw away from where I stay), wears a G-string and masks his face. Sounds like a freak, no to be exact, all flashers are freaks. The thing that irks me, besides the fact that these flashers are psychopathic, is that some guys actually feel that us girls are over reacting and that we won't lose a piece of meat from being touched or by looking at someone who exposes himself. Fuck off. So do you mean that we have to put up with all these mentally unsound actions just because we have nothing to lose? Please do not forget that some vulnerable girls do suffer from traumas even by being touched. I bet you wouldn't be so nonchalant if the offended girl is your girlfriend, you'll definitely react in another manner. Hey it doesn't mean that only your girlfriend is human. It doesn't mean we have to tolerate such actions and let them get off scott-free time and again. What if they get worse, what if they evolve from molesters to rapists? Is it only til then when we actually lose something, our chastity that we are considered not over reacting? That only then are we actually able to kick a big fuss?? Guys. You can't talk like that just because you won't experience such stuff. Unless you do come across some perverted aunties. But you don't have anything to lose what. Oh, did that sound familiar?

Yet there are some girls who suffer in silence when being offended. Please don't be dumb. You are only giving the molester/flasher/rapist another chance to attack another innocent victim. Having said that I do understand that some girls are too startled to do anything and needs time to recover, especially if they are unfortunately, sexually assaulted. I sympathize with them but I really hope they try to pick themselves up. For the flasher that I've met, I've come to realise that my neighbours' daughters had actually seen him a few times. They came up to ask me after the police came to my house. They said their daughter ran away when they recognise the flasher from far. Please please call the police, otherwise you wanna run away everytime you see him?

My mum's beginning to get paranoid after that piece of news. Telling me to be very careful and asking me to make my friends send me home. Whenever such news break out in my area she'll tell me to let her know when I'm reaching home so that she can wait for me downstairs. But I never did. It ain't safe for her too! I do agree it isn't safe in my area, robbers, rapists, flashers, murderers, molesters, stalkers, even loan sharks. You name it. And it doesn't help that the neighbourhood police isn't efficient (albeit good looking). Oh and perhaps cause my house is near to the Woodbridge?

Silence is perfect for the night
All alone you hide
From the lights shone too bright

This very moment you own
Don't waste away a night so beautiful
