WEAK

It's been pretty long since I last posted.... Time to account for my MIA....

I was actively going out for the previous week, almost everyday after work. Then badminton, Sentosa, ktv etc over the wkend.... Happening ah... Was tired but life would be too dreadful without all these fun..... I can't recall what I did exactly except that I was very busy haha. That explains why I haven been online nor blogging.....

Then something bad struck me... Just the past thursday nite... sudden attack of stomach flu... I guess that's what they call 乐极生悲(le ji sheng bei). Some might think that I enjoyed myself too much, played too hard, and I didn't rest enough... Not totally true but I guess there's an indirect link cos I did feel abit tired and when you are tired, you body immune system tends to be down and that's when the virus has a chance.... For those who are unaware of what is stomach flu... it's not the common flu that you're thinking of... yes strictly speakly, it's not me who caught the flu but my stomach haha

Stomach Flu (Viral Gastroenteritis)

What is stomach flu?

Stomach flu is a viral infection that affects the stomach and small intestine. It is also called viral gastroenteritis. The illness is usually brief, lasting 1 to 3 days.

How does it occur?

Many different viruses can cause gastroenteritis, including rotaviruses, adenoviruses, and the Norwalk virus. Gastroenteritis is caused by swallowing one of these viruses. The body fluids of infected people contain the virus, sometimes even before their symptoms begin. The virus can be spread by direct contact with an infected person (for example, kissing or shaking hands) or by sharing food, drink, or eating utensils.

The virus enters the stomach and intestine and inflames the lining of these organs. As a result, the stomach and intestine are temporarily unable to perform their usual functions. The virus can also cause food to move more rapidly through your gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Some bacteria, parasites, medicines, or other medical conditions can cause infections that have symptoms similar to those of stomach flu. If your symptoms are unusually severe or last longer than a few days, your health care provider can determine if the diarrhea is caused by a virus or by something else.

What are the symptoms?

When you have stomach flu, you may have one or more of the following symptoms:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • stomach cramps
  • diarrhea
  • mild fever
  • fatigue
  • chills
  • loss of appetite
  • muscle aches.

The illness may develop over a period of hours, or it may suddenly start with stomach cramps, vomiting, or diarrhea.

More on stomach flu

Anyways yes, it was a sudden onset of symptoms and I just started feeling nausea, then vomit and diarrhea... So I rushed to see a doc late thursday nite, took the medication and slept for like more than 20hrs for the next 24hrs.... Sadly, Fri was my D&D!!! And I had to give it a miss, it was to be held at The Jewel Box at Mount Faber. I had prepared the costume and accessories for the 70s theme... We even had arrangement for cable car.... My 1st D&D of the company.... SO sad!!!! But I didn't have the energy to dress up, to make my way there and I knew even if I made it there, I won't be enjoying myself, I'll be tired and what if something happened to me there? And my colleagues won't be able to enjoy themselves if they had to keep a lookout for me.... So I gave up the idea. After all, I fainted on that fateful afternoon. Like I said, I was lying on bed for almost the whole day and the instant I tried to get out of bed to washup, I blackout in the toilet. Ok I didn't fall on the floor or wat but I prepared to sit on the toilet bowl because I knew I wil hit the floor when I saw total blackness haha. I think the medication was too strong. I hate to drink syrup medicine but I had to... I would always ask for cough tablets if I was given the syrup. Anyway the medication made me feel very weak and drowsy... And without any appetite I guess my blood pressure went pretty low (I measured today it was 80plus/50plus), cos I survived solely on fluid and not alot of fluid too..... Anyway I'm alot better now, just that my appetite is pretty small and stil having diarrhea... Like the article has mentioned, the onset of the virus is rapid, last only a couple of days but takes awhile before everything returns to normal... I stopped taking the medicine for fear of feeling weak thou I still felt abit daze this morning....I have to return to work tml... so sad... I actually had my wkend planned out nicely! Fri was D&D then suntan and chalet over the wkend.... But haiz all gone... So I gotta plan my nx wkend nicely haha but nowadays, as age is catching up, we seldom have chalet anymore.... I miss BBQ food!!!!!

Silence is perfect for the night
All alone you hide
From the lights shone too bright

This very moment you own
Don't waste away a night so beautiful
