Quickie =P

Ahh 5 months have passed by so quickly. For those who didn't know I returned to Singapore for a short trip back in Feb during CNY. Sorry I didn't have time to meet all! So this post is due to multiple request (and nagging) and that they haven't heard from me for a long time.... Which is totally true. I have fallen behind quite abit. Out of boredom, I surfed friendster and saw that some of my closest friends had been to places and I wasn't even aware. And mind you, the places they went were close to where I am. Not exactly near but close.

Anyways I will post a pic of my big bruise as a result of playing paintball the past weekend. It's enough to blow you away, I promise!

Once in A Blue Room

SURPRISE SURPRISE!!

For a moment, you thought this blog gonna be dormant... To be exact it has been dormant, so you probably thought it was going to extinct. And then here comes an entry. To be honest, I for once thought it's gonna be extinct too... Yup but check back once in awhile you'll probably see some invaluable entries haha

OK OK.... It's been extremely long... You know the urge to blog just comes and goes.... And of cos there's greater urge to blog last time compared to now... Not only me, alotta of my friends don't update their blog that often already... if at all. I guess that's how certain trend just tail off and die down, the same goes for the once-upon-a-time irc and icq, and you have what the friendster and then there's the blog.... So due respect for those who faithfully and religiously update their blogs....

Well I do keep this space because there are certain things that I might still wish to share once in a while also serve as a means to update my life right here in the US. Like I've said nothing much to report but at least to let you guys know that I'm alive and kicking. And yes you'll probably catch me at those famous and yet nice eateries or food outlets back in Singapore soon. That's my main motive in my vacation back to Singapore, apart from spending time with my family and friends. I guess this time round I'll do more of a group meet up since I'll probably be spending more time with my family. Yes that is the call of a filial daughter, a duty which the filial me will definitely fulfill. So I'll be back dring CNY, flying off on 14 Feb 07 (Yes you don't have to remind me that's Valentines' Day) and flying back here on 25 Feb 07. Less than 2 weeks so start booking your slots people... Wahaha. And the best places to meet up with me? Places with food! Like Stingray, kaya, dao huey (Soy Bean), Kway Chap, Bryani, Zi Char, Kopitiam Lemon Tea, Rojak, Bao (Kong ba bao), kang kong, thosai, roti prata, roti john, bak gua and an inexhaustive list of exotic food. Yes Exotic Food! You didn't see it wrongly, cos these food seem exotic to me.... And I have friends who offered to bring me to the latest Canto/Mandarin Pop Club dragonfly (which I chanced upon on Shoi's blog) and Vivocity. Man I need to catch a movie, I've been surviving on DVDs and downloaded movies all of this 6 months. And that reminds me, I've been here for 6 whole months!

Alright so as usual I've been reprimanded of how I have not been updating my blog, how I've been lazy and how I should let others know that I'm leading a not so bad life. Besides the cold and putting on weight here, everything else is bearable. Well I mean it's good to experience such climate, but it gets freaking cold and goes to sub zero at night. So I've experienced snow for a couple of times, played and rolled in the snow, had a snow fight and all's not that bad. But I'm still missing on a snow storm which is rare, cos from what I heard there should have been 2 to 3 snow storm by now. And this year's winter is like the hottest for the dunno-how-many decade, and yet it was predicted that this year's winter gonna be the coldest in years to come. So the climate's really changing huh?

Alright and then I had a freaking car accident. I wasn't the one driving but anyways four of us from the household were planning to go to our company's gym for a workout session on a Sunday morning. And when we were exiting from a highway, it was green arrow for us to turn left but an oncoming car from our left didn't stop and was traveling at a relatively high speed. Both cars saw each other, can't brake in time, swerve their steering wheels away to avoid hitting each other. Still the cars hit but the impact was reduced. And yes since it was green for us it has to be red for them. But the driver denied it when the police came. And guess what they didn't have a car insurance but then New Hampshire is like the only state in US that doesn't require an insurance for the car! But anyways the issue was settled just that the insurance hasn't finished (or started?!!) their assessment yet. So we've gotta live with a car that has out of range headlight on the right and a smashed headlight on the left and an outta alignment bonnet. The car engine feels weird to me, pick up, acceleration and brake isn't that effective.

Had a company Xmas party and it was a good time for me cos I finally get to dress up! Yes, hiding behind all the long sleeves and jeans makes me sick and tired of them, I wanna flaunt my summer clothes! Haha and people who know me knows that I don't like to wear tops with sleeve. Yep and wrapping yourself under the thick layers of clothes only makes you fat, I mean you'll eat and eat cos of the cold and yet don't know that you've put on weight cos you'd think it's the clothes. And it doesn't help that the people here snack alot! Chips and chocolates, I tell you they kill. I don't wanna look like a fat pig when I'm back though I'm on my way there.... Shucks!

And then the most frequent question that I got was how was my Christmas and New Year. No it wasn't a white Christmas for me. Basically I wasn't home but then again, it didn't snow at where I stay. I was at New York. It certainly wasn't a white Christmas there. It wasn't even half as cold there. And then New Year was spent at Niagara Falls, a great fall located between the borders of America and Canada. I was at the America which proved to be a huge mistake. But then guys, updates about these trips will come in my next entry... which I'm not sure how long that will take haha

Installation from US - Part 1

Wow I haven updated for a month now... Time really flies!!

There's only 2 words to explain... Laziness & Procrastination...
Hmm well they both mean almost the same thing....

Haha so so many ple have been complaining as well as asking me how's life...
Serious, I do get abit irritated at that question... I mean I've been here for almost 5 months... nothing is as fresh or as exciting (unless you are talking about the snow, which I'll touch on moments later). You know it's just like asking someone who has spent 23 years of his life in Singapore the same question... How wrong or right can it go? Well that is assuming nothing goes too wrong or nothing really bad happens in life.

So so... Let me think of something(s) that will probably be interesting to my readers. Off hand I can only think of 3 or 4, which are not all exciting... Just some updates which are probably more worth mentioning...

1. Montreal getaway during Thanksgiving... Nothing much but really nice architecture and buildings... Shopping is nice too, if you are loaded then no worries about shopping til you drop. So anyways the five of us squeezed in a really not up to standard room well you cant expect much from a budget hotel... that is if it's even a hotel...
The Olympic Stadium....

Five of us... Think almost 15 of us went but we didn't really see each other... Since we had our own plans..

What a beautiful Church Notre Dame Beautiful

Nightview at The Observatory

It was Ben & Jerry's on the way back! We went for a guided tour to see the process of ice-cream making and had free samples!

OK I think that's about all for today... I know I only covered part one... But it'll take damn long to say everything that I need to! So so... there'll be more to come!

Jewel

See that I have not been updating and that means I'm settling into the life here.
Why?
Because when you move into a comfort zone, get too used to a mundane and routine life, there ain't any exciting moments or memorable events that are worth documentating. And of cause, some that you might not wanna disclose.

Well except maybe for this...

Jewel's concert.
The most simple yet sweetest concert I've been to.

An empty stage, except for 2 guitar racks (each with a guitar of cause), 2 amplifier, a mic on its stand, a little table draped in black cloth with a red cup and a pot of brightly coloured plant on it.
Slightly left of the stage. Under the rim of the spot light.

Nothing fascinating, nothing elaborate. Unless you are talking about Jewel's vocal.
Powerful, high ranging, sometimes sweet sometimes roaring. I can feel it pierce through my skin.

And the unless entertaining comments and stories behind most songs. Belting out in her familiar hits, and the never released. Each one musically re-arranged. That's what makes it worthwhile to attend a concert, otherwise you might as well sit on your couch at home and continuously run your CD.

The crowd, so interactive. Whistles, claps, cheers, chants, song requests. So random. So spontaneous. And the standing ovation.

It's all so different. In a concert hall, or an auditorium so steep. Yet so nourishing. Fulfilling.

And not forgetting in the comfort of a sweet company, immersed in the chorus of beautiful music. Who, soaked in the rain, and did a sprint. It just about wraps up everything.

And they have each other

The heart wrenched when it heard
the words so dear...
And told the eyes it's as difficult
to hold back the tears...

Love from half a globe away
For the very first time it reveals
The feelings buried deep
The tears swallowed quick

But now it's clear
How much the heart misses each other
weathering through time and space
How the bond lies quietly within
since the past 23 years

With Love
Dearest Sis

Skeptic

It's exhaustive to be
tied down by the living
and the dead
To know history could (would) repeat
in a different situation
a different place

It's pathetic to be
burdened by the uncertainty
What will and will not be
A trust misplaced so readily
Foreseeing a future diverge to nothing

What can I trust?
What do I believe?
